SRINAGAR: Maintaining that every research scholar must have some understanding of statistical knowledge in order to make the research more meaningful and data oriented, Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad today assured his administrations full support to Academic staff college (ASC) KU , to hold orientation and refresher courses for collage and university teachers aimed at further improving their teaching skills and knowledge base.
While interacting with 40 college and university teachers during the inaugural function of a 3 week refresher course in basic and applied sciences organized by Academic Staff College at University of Kashmir here today Prof Talat said Research is of utmost importance in our University now and every effort is being made to facilitate a hassle free research at the campus for collage and university teachers. The only thing , expected VC , is that teachers must have strong urge to learn from such courses.
While interacting with the course participants from within and outside the state Prof Talat called for a focus on interdisciplinary approach in research a said that such courses are bound to acquaint participants with the latest and upgraded techniques and tools of research. He lauded the efforts of present director ASC and his team for making the college vibrant to meet the growing demands of participants for various courses.
On the occasion Director Academic Staff College (ASC) Prof Farooq Fayaz informed the Vice Chancellor that ASC would organize a mega summer camp for training University &collage teachers besides scholars in the month of June , July this year as a part of special UGC package
He informed that VC in addition to the General Orientation and Refresher Courses which are being organized for teachers and faculty members from time to time, this summar camp will focus on specialised training courses in specialised fields of knowledge .
Speaking on the occasion Prof Aqueel Ahmad Course coordinator said that 40 research scholars from different faculties and institutions including KU, various degree colleges have been selected for this 3 week course. Prof Aqueel informed that during the course some reputed academicians and researchers within and outside state are visiting the Academic Staff College as resource persons and he is looking forward for a healthy interaction between them and the research scholars during this time.
