Party minister projecting oppn leader in my constituency: Niyaz
SRINAGAR: Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prof Saifuddin Soz today refused to accept that there was any serious infighting within the state Congress ranks and said that he did not receive any letter from senior party leader and MLA Baderwah Mohammad Shareef Niyaz against a party minister.
No I did not receive any letter from Niyaz. Soz said and refused to accept that the party was struggling with serious kind of factionalism. He however hastened to add that difference of opinion do prevail in any democratic political party.
Earlier MLA Baderwah Mohammad Shreef Niyaz had written to party president and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Sunday evening complaining against a senior party minster of working against him in his constituency.
Yes I have written to party chief, a copy of which has been sent to all top leaders including Prof. Soz and G. N. Azad against a part minister who has been working against me and trying to project the opposition leader, Niyaz said. Though Niyaz refused to name the minster against whom he has complained to high command, but sources privy to the development said that the complaint was against senior minster Taj Mohiuddin.
Niyaz ruled out the option of resigning from the party and said that he was among the basic members of the party in the state and cant even think of resigning from it.
I have joined the party in 1977, when it had lost the elections, and people even called me insane for resigning from the Govt. job. I only want to expose the people who have been weakening the party in state, said Niyaz.
The former minster further said that the minster in question was projecting a political activist of rival party in his constituency.
Meanwhile Taj Mohiuddin denied the allegations and said, he hasnt been in Niyazs constituency for a long time.
If he (Niyaz) has complained against me, I would deny that, because I have nothing to do with his constituency. Taj told KNS.
