SRINAGAR: The frequent thefts in Rose Lane Colony of Chanpora in Srinagar have shaken the confidence of local residents who are scared to step out from their homes even during the day time.
A few days ago thieves decamped with timber worth lakhs of rupees from a house at Chanapora. We are scared of stepping out from our houses now. Burglars are on prowl while the police has failed to nab them, Irshad Ahmed, a local resident said.
The people of the area have expressed strong resentment over frequent thefts in the area and appealed SSP Srinagar to take measures for restoring sense of security in the area.
Depicting ignorance about the incident, Divisional Officer, Police Station Channapora, Sameer Ahmad said that they have not received any complaints regarding the matter. We take cognizance of every complaint, but nobody filed any complaint in this regard. If somebody will approach us we will certainly take action, he said. (CNS)
