SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police has taken custody of four ex-militants and their families who were picked up by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on the Indo-Nepal border while returning from Pak-administered-Kashmir.
The group of twelve returnees was handed over to a state police team at Madhubani in Bihar on Friday night after questioning by intelligence agencies, and is on its way to the Valley, sources said.
The antecedents of the four ex-militants two from Kupwara and two from Bandipur had been confirmed by the Bihar police by contacting their counterparts in Kashmir.
Authorities in Bihar said that nothing objectionable had been found in the possession of the group, which includes at least six children aged 1 to 4.
The foursome had crossed over to PaK severally in the late nineties for training as militants, but three of them had married on the other side and raised families.
Sources said that the police and CIK personnel were escorting the groups of twelve back to the Valley for further questioning and eventual release.
