SRINAGAR: Business resumed in the northern township of Baramulla after three days on Saturday, albeit amid tension and a brief disruption over a fresh arrest.
Closed down earlier this week to demand the removal of forces camps, the town had witnessed numerous clashes between protestors and the police, in which several persons were injured.
The decision of the town to reopen for everyday activity today witnessed hiccups when police picked up the elderly father of a local youth hospitalised for pellet injuries.
Groups of youth took to the streets in protest as news spread that one Abdul Rahman, who was setting up shop on his handcart, had been taken into custody.
Opening shops downed shutters again, and traffic was disrupted by protestors amid announcements over mosque loudspeakers.
The police, however, let the vendor go as protests gathered strength and incidents of stone-pelting erupted.
Business and traffic resumed and calm was restored after Abdul Rahmans release.
One of his sons is under treatment at the SKIMS for pellet injuries, while another has already been detained by the police.
