Gul for developing Eidgah as tourist destination

Directs for construction of boundary wall near Mazar-i-Shuhada

SRINAGAR: The Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mubarak Gul today visited Eidgah and took stock of various works being executed for the development of Eidgah Park.  He said that government has taken several steps for development of Srinagar City which are yielding fruitful results on ground.

The Speaker was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, officers of Tourism, Floriculture, UEED, PHE, SMC and other concerned departments.

While addressing on the occasion Mr. Gul called upon the people to maintain peace and extend their whole hearted cooperation to the government for taking the State to the new horizons of development. He said that government is committed to develop Eidgah as tourist destination so that socio-economic benefit can be achieved for the people of the area.

 The Speaker directed district adminsitration Srinagar for demarcation of Eidgah and allows movement of vehicles containing material for filling of Eidgah besides taking necessary actions for the facelift of Eidgah. 

Mr. Gul also directed for taking necessary steps for relocation of Imam Quarter to Aali Masjid. He also urged for speedy completion of Tibetan quarter being constructed so that Tibetan families are shifted to these quarters.

Mr. Gul directed concerned authorities to speed up pace of the works being executed for the beautification and maintenance of the Eidgah park, Play ground and Prayer ground.

He also enjoined upon the concerned agencies for draining out the accumulated water from Eidgah ground besides, construction of proper drainage system in the adjacent areas of Eidgah. He also directed for construction of boundary wall near Mazar-i-Shuhada.

Mr. Gul also exhorted upon the concerned agencies to begin the filling work for leveling of playground besides taking consultation of sports agencies so that play ground looks like a mini stadium of the Shahr-i-Khaas. He asked officers to build up a change room and other facilities for sports activities.

While responding to the demands of local youth the Speaker asked for organizing Shar-i-Khaas football tournaments in Eidgah besides other sports events on regular basis so that aspirations of local youth are fulfilled. He said a children park would be developed in Eidgah for small kids which shall be equipped with all amusement equipments

He said a comprehensive plan has been formulated for making Eidgah an eye-catching and attractive spot for local people and tourists. He said a mini-heritage market would also be established near Eidgah where different traditional artisan products shall be made available for sale so that people of the area are benefitted.

During his visit several deputations call on the Speaker and put forth various problems before him.

The Speaker gave patient hearing to all deputationists and assured for early redressal of their genuine demands.

Later, the Speaker paid obeisance at the shrine of Hazrat Syed Mansoor Sahib at Zaldagar and prayed for peace, prosperity and development of the State.
