Provisions of the 73rd Amendment to be incorporated soon
SRINAGAR: President JKPCC Prof Saif-u-Din Soz Sunday said that Congress was emerging a strong force in Kashmir and Ladakh region also but Jammu region was its main focus and it holds key to the 2014 Assembly elections.
Addressing a public rally in Raipur-Domana constituency of Jammu, Soz said that BJP has become irrelevant in Jammu region because of its wrong policies and failure to respect the mandate of the people. It is the Congress party alone which is emerging as the only choice of people of this region, although party is emerging stronger in Kashmir and Ladakh region as well.
Prof. Soz urged upon the people to give a decisive mandate in favor of Congress party as it can ensure the unity and integrity of the state and translate the aspirations of each region. He said Congress will emerge as the largest political force in the next assembly elections and can form government on its own or lead the next government.
He said that the Coordination Committee of INC-NC has arrived at a consensus to hold the elections to the Municipal Corporation and Urban Local Bodies before the end of June this year and urged the party men to elect good candidates in these elections.
The party would select right candidates for the purpose based on the feedback from party workers and the people. The provisions of the 73rd Amendment to the Constitution of India in the J&K state Panchayat Raj Act would be incorporated to soon to empower Panchayati institutions in the state, Soz said.
