SRINAGAR: Except for the post graduate entrance in Social Work the entrance examination for more than 40 PG courses offered by the University of Kashmir concluded here on Thursday with the KU authorities holding the examinations in 26 different sessions for 10 days with each day divided into two- three sessions i.e morning, afternoon and evening for the convenience of thousands of the aspirants.
During the last day of the examination today entrance exam for M.Sc Biochemistry and MA Psychology was held in the morning session and in the afternoon session exam for MA Urdu and M.Sc Electronics was conducted whereas in the evening session exam for MEd was held. About 12,000 candidates appeared in these examinations today. Since a large number of students had to appear in the Med examinations University had kept elaborate arrangements and had constituted four teams of observers to observe and monitor the conduct of M.Ed entrance examination at various examination centres including at S.P College, Srinagar, Govt College for Women , M.A road, Govt .Degree College , Bemina and Amar Singh College Srinagar.
Today Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad and Dean academic affairs , visited different examination canters in the morning as well as in the afternoon to inspect and review the arrangements for the conduct of the various Post Graduate pre-entry examinations for the new academic session.
While expressing satisfaction over the fair conduct of examinations Prof Talat said I interacted with scores of aspirants on all the examination days at various centres within the campus and they are satisfied with the facilities and arrangements made by the University for the fair conduct of examinations. He added KU is always in pursuit to improve the facilities every year for the different examinations held by the varsity from time to time. Appreciating the efforts of the invigilating staff and other examination officials he said the examiners kept a strict vigil over the aspirants to check any means of cheating in the examinations.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof AM Shah under whose supervision the whole exercise of entrance examination is carried out was delighted that the system put in place worked well and the process was concluded successfully . Moreover he said the results have been declared within the shortest possible time . He added that the whole process from the receiving of forms to conducting examinations and the declaration of results has taken us one month only. Prof Shah said that this will help us to start the new academic session from first week of April 2013 as per schedule .
According to the statistics the University received more than 36000 entrance applications for admission to various of its post graduate courses for the year 2013 against a vacancy of 3000 seats.
