SRINAGAR: Nearly 50 kg of copper from the collapsed portion of a dome in the Hazratbal shrine has been surreptitiously sold by Waqf Board employees, reports said.

A section of the dome had fallen last year, causing widespread anger and dismay over lax maintenance of the revered site.

The chairman of the Waqf Board, Prof MY Qadiri, said that a committee was investigating the issue, and would submit its report within two weeks.

“All facts will be put before the public,” he said.
