SRINAGAR: Police backed by paramilitary CRPF raided the residence of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik late on Thursday, a JKLF spokesman said.
He said government forces cordoned off Maisuma locality and conducted searches in the residence of Malik and his maternal uncle besides Maqbool Manzil, the headquarters of the JKLF.
It was not immediately known what prompted the raids but police sources said the move was to preempt any protests on Friday.
Itr bears mention that Yasin Malik remains under house arrest eversince he returned from Pakistan.
A spokesperson of JKLF while condemning the house arrest of Yasin Malik said that he has been confined to one small room for last several days and his heath is fast deteriorating. Terming this as ‘unilateral state terrorism’ spokesperson also strongly condemned the imprisonment of JKLF leaders Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and Javed Ahmad Bhat.
“Meanwhile Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi was brought to Srinagar court for appearance in a case. He has again been shifted to Srinagar central jail”, he said.
