SRINAGAR: The State High Court (HC) has issued status quo order against promotions of class IV employees of the handicrafts department to the posts of junior assistants. Court has directed the department not to regularize services of private respondents till next date of hearing before the bench.
Department had issued an order number 346/HD on 11 March promoting forth class employees to post of junior assistant. But the promotions were not made under rules and regulations and deserving candidates were ignored, said official sources.
It was learnt that serial number 294 was surprisingly dropped in promotion list while under the circular number HD/EST/A4138-48 serial number 310, 363, 390. 391, 429, 440, 443, 447 were mentioned as promoted, they added. Justice Husnain Masoodi after hearing the petitioners counsel issued status quo on promotions till further orders.
When contacted, Director Handicrafts Muzaffar Ahmad Munshi, said, All allegations are baseless. Rules and regulations have been followed in the process. However, he said that orders issued by department were temporary and not final in nature. (KNS)
