Anushka ‘shortlisted’ for Spielberg’s Kashmir film

SRINAGAR: The arrival of Hollywood’s prolific filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, on the Indian shores has brought a golden opportunity for one of the desi actresses to star in his next film project based on the Kashmir issue. And if the reports are to be believed, then it is none other than Anushka Sharma on whom lady luck seems to be smiling, Zee News reported.

According to a daily, a mere seven-film wonder Anushka Sharma has been shortlisted for playing the lead role in Spielberg’s new film. However, the director remains mum on the final casting of the movie. But even getting noticed by a director of Spielberg’s stature has made Anushka the talk of the town.

People who have worked with her such as director Maneesh Sharma of ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ fame and film expert Atul Mohan are backing her wholeheartedly and can see her rise due to her smart career choices, good looks teamed with superb acting talent. So if all goes well, Anushka might be finalised for the role and will be seen sharing screen space with the likes of Denzel Washington, Richard Gere and Bradley Cooper.

The film would be produced by his DreamWorks Studios and its Indian partner Reliance Entertainment, which is headed by tycoon Anil Ambani.

“We have finalised a script for a movie,” Spielberg said.

“Part of it will take place on the India-Pakistan border (LOC) in Kashmir. But we’re still trying to figure out the casting, locations and who’s going to direct it.” KO Monitoring Desk
