Adjournment Motion on CRPF Killings Disallowed


SRINAGAR: Deputy Speaker Sartaj Madni Thursday out rightly rejected the adjournment motion moved by National Panthers Party members in which they had demanded a discussion on the killing of five CRPF men by militants in Srinagar. 

Madni who was in the chair in absence of Speaker Mubarak Gul categorically refused to admit the motion stating that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had already made a statement in the house while all the member have expressed their concern over the incident and there was no justification for admitting the adjournment motion.

Soon after zero hour, members from National Panthers Party stood up from their seats and demanded that normal business be suspended and an adjournment motion considered on the situation arising out of the killing of five CRPF men in a “fidayeen” attack in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Deputy Speaker said that there was no justification for admitting the adjournment motion on the issue. “Chief Minister soon after the incident informed the House and all the members showed there concern and now there is no need for the adjournment motion being getting admitted,” Madni said.

After the rejection of motion, all the members of NPP staged a walk out from the House while NPP legislature party Harsh Dev Singh lamented that House has ample time to discuss the issue of Parliament convict Mohammad Afzal Guru while the members have no time to discuss such a major issue.
