‘Fiadyeen’ Strike in Srinagar, 5 CRPF Men Killed

SRINAGAR: Five personnel of Central Reserve Police Force were killed and another six injured in a deadly attack by militants on their camp in Srinagar Wednesday morning.

The attack first this year in the capital ciy came when city is observing strike against the hanging of Afzal Guru.

Police sources said the attack took place on the camp situated on Bemina bypass and had all hallmarks of a Fidayeen Strike. They said two militants are belived to have died in the attack.

This is the first major attack on the government forces in the last few years. The last major attack on security forces was in 2010 when a CRPF camp in Lal Chowk, Srinagar was targeted.

The attack comes days after the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru which had led to wide spread protests in the state.
