SRINAGAR: Expressing concern about the health of Syed Ali Shah Geelnai, Lok Jan Shakti Party leader, Ram Villas Pasvan Monday criticized the government of Jammu and Kashmir for continuously keeping the ailing octogenarian leader under house arrest.
Ram Vilas Paswan was addressing a rally in Patna in which he said that Centre was not serious about Kashmir issue and it doesnt care about the view points of Kashmiri people. Injustice was done to the family of Afzal Guru for not allowing them to meet him before his execution. The decision of Centre to execute Afzal was totally wrong, Paswan said adding that the people of Kashmir are genuinely furious over the hanging of Afzal Guru.
He criticized the role of Jammu and Kashmir government for continuously keeping Syed Ali Shah Geelani under house arrest. At a time when 86 year old Kashmir leader needs rest and doctors have advised him to have a walk in the mornings and evenings, the government of Jammu and Kashmir was not allowing him to venture outside his residence. It is an injustice, Paswan said.
He said that anger was brewing among Kashmiri people over the execution of Afzal Gruu. I have taken up this issue with Home Minister of India and he has assured me that Geelani will be allowed to move freely, Paswan claimed. cns
