SRINAGAR: Authorities here today said that schools in Kashmir would re-open on Monday at any cost after winter vacations.
Schools with reopen on March 11, and that is the final decision, the director for school education, Muhammad Shafi Rathar, said.
Similar views were expressed by officers at the ministry of education, putting at rest speculation that winter holidays could be extended again due to the prevailing situation.
Educational institutions in Kashmir were due to resume academics at the beginning of March, but seasonal vacations were extended by 10 days due to inclement weather.
Though conditions have remained mostly dry and sunny since, Kashmir has witnessed severe turmoil accompanied by curfews and shutdowns during the period.
