SRINAGAR: Baramulla district administration has not started its probe into the killing of a local resident Tahir Ahmed Sofi who lost his life in firing by govt forces.

“We are busy in maintaining law and order and once we will be free, investigation will be started,” Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Manzoor Ahmed Qadri who has been appointed as investigating officer said.

Qadri said that the administration was not in touch with Army at this point of time.

Pertinently, 25 year old, Tahir Ahmed Sofi was killed when Army allegedly fired at protestors to disperse them. According to Army it has already started Court of Inquiry (CoI) into the killing and asked Jammu and Kashmir police to identify civilian witnesses in the case.

District Development Commissioner, Ghulam Ahmed Khawja said that they have appointed ADC, Manzoor Ahmed Qadri to probe the killing of the youth. “Army has conducted a separate inquiry and we will probe it ourselves,” he said.

When contacted Qadri revealed that they are too busy in maintaining law and order and has not started the probe yet. “Let the tumultuous atmosphere subside, we will start the probe. We have not consulted Army yet and the probe will hopefully start from Monday,” Qadri said adding that they will soon record the statements of witnesses in this regard. (CNS)
