SRINAGAR: A Passport Mela is being organized for clearing the backlog of those pending files which come under the old NIC Legacy system, but are pending for want of Police Verification Reports (PVR) or for want of replies to certain objections.
“Although various reminders/letters have been issued to such applicants, but, as a gesture of welfare measure, it is informed that in the Passport Mela, scheduled to be organized in the Office premises on Saturday, the 9th March, 2013, all such applicants are required to apply afresh by filling up on-line Passport Application form available on the website passportindia.gov.in, an official statement said.The applicants have been asked to generate ARN (Application Reference Number), seek appointment and thereafter visit the Passport Seva Kendra on the scheduled date and time, along with Printed ARN Sheet and original documents.
All such applicants shall be entertained in the PSK on GRATIS (without fee payment) basis, it said. The applicants are also required to produce the receipt having been issued to them at the time of submitting their application earlier as per the old NIC Legacy System.
The on-line appointments for this Mela shall be released by Wednesday, the 6th instant, it further said.
Fresh Haj aspirants (applying simultaneously) shall also be entertained during this Mela.
