SRINAGAR: Curfew was imposed on Tuesday night in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of 10 police stations of the Srinagar city and in Baramulla and Sopore as a precautionary measure following widespread protests that rocked Valley on Tuesday after a youth died in army firing in Baramulla town.
Curfew was imposed in areas falling under police stations of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nawatta, Safa Kadal and Maharajganj, Zadibal, Maisuma and Kral Khud in the city , a police spokesperson said.
He said curfew has also been imposed in Baramulla and Sopore. The decision to impose curfew was taken at a high level meeting of police officers following the death of Tahir Latief Sofi in an army firing in Baramulla district on Tuesday afternoon.
