SRINAGAR: National Conference leader and Member of Parliament, Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri who met Hurriyat G leader Syed Ali Geelani on Monday today conveyed the concerns of his family and followers to central government.
Met Health Minister Azad Sahib and Home Minister Shinde Ji and conveyed to them the concerns of family and followers of Geelani Sahib, about his health. Azad Sahib assured all that may be required to keep Geelani Sahib in good health and Shinde Ji directed the concerned to depute a team of doctors, including one Kashmiri cardiologist., said Ratanpuri in a statement issued this evening.
I told the Home Minister that the gall bladder and one and a half kidney of Geelani Sahib has been removed. He suffers from chronic bronchitis, prostatitis, spondylosis and other complications of old age and his heart is fitted with a pace maker. So his confinement can’t be termed less than cruel., he added.
Ratanpuri said he expected the confinement of Geelani to end in a couple of days.
I also conveyed the concern of Mr. Naseem Geelani that denying his father a mandatory daily walk may cause irreparable damage to his health. I wanted to know from the Home Minister why requirements of law are not fulfilled while confining Geelani Sahib to his extremely small flat, without serving a written order and thus denying him the legal remedy to his confinement too. I expect that the confinement of Geelani Sahib may end in a day or two, he added.
