JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today registered a case relating to damage of 22 Transmission Towers of 132 KV capacity Rajouri to Draba and Draba to Chandak line.
It has been alleged that 22 Transmission Towers of 132 KV at aforesaid alignment collapsed due to use of substandard material and poor workmanship in assembly & erection of these transmission towers resulting in loss to Govt exchequer, said an official spokesman of SVO.
He said the case had been registered on the basis of an enquiry report furnished by a team of officers headed by officer of the rank of Chief Engineer of Power Development Department. It has been alleged that these towers damaged due to various factors like use of substandard fabrication material, use of several under-sized members in towers, use of un-galvanized stubs and structural members, absence of gusset plates/cover plates at several joints between stubs and main legs, missing of several members, poor workmanship in fixing of various joints in the tower etc, he added.
The case, according to the spokesman, has been registered against engineers of Power Development Department including Executive Engineers, Mohd. Qasim, Sham Lal Gupta, H. L. Gupta; Assistant Executive Engineers, D. P. S. Bali, Nisar Hussain, Assistant Enginers, R. P. Gupta, Ajay Sahney and Junior Engineer Stores, Rajeev Chopra, Sumit Puri, Barkat Hussain and Murrir Hussain.
