DAMASCUS: The holy shrine of Hazrat Sakina daughter of Imam Hussain was partially destroyed in an insurgent attack in Darraya region in war torn Syria.
News reports quoting officials said the takfiri terrorists took up positions inside the holy shrine of Sakina-bint-al-Husain during a firefight in the area.
Syrian security forces accused rebels of planting bombs inside the holy shrine before escaping from the spot.
However, Syrian forces managed to eliminate all the rebels soon afterwards in a shoot out.
The Mausoleum Sayyida Sakina contains the grave of the youngest daughter of Husayn ibn Al? by the name of F?timah. She is often referred to by her titles: “Ruqayya” and “Sukayna” by Arabic speaking Muslims, and the title: “Sakina” by Persian and Urdu speakers.
After enduring the advent of Karbal? and the torturous journey to Damascus that followed it, Syeda Sakina finally died, only 4 years old, in Yazid’s prison, where she was originally buried. Years later however, upon the flooding of her gravesite, Hazrat Sakinas grave was reopened and she was moved to the site where the shrine now stands.
