SRINAGAR: Functions marking the 29th anniversary of the hanging of JKLF founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat were held on both sides of the Line of Control and many places across the globe on Monday, the Front said.

“Despite curfew in the Kashmir Valley, special meetings were held in Watragam, Kupwara and other places,” it said/

“Commemorative functions were held in Mirpur, where the JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik addressed a function along with Amanullah Khan,” it said.

“Special meetings were also held in the US, the UK, several European countries and the UAE as well, where leaders paid homage to the martyred Muhammad Maqbool Bhat,” it said.

“The Front also organised functions in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakote, Mirpur, Baagh, and the Pakistani cities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar,” it said.

At the Mirpur function, Malik and Khan paid glowing tributes to Maqbool, saying that Muhammad Afzal Guru too had emulated the JKLF founder by embracing the gallows in the Tihar Jail.
