Impostor ‘Helps’ Man At ATM, Returns Fake Card

SRINAGAR: Police is looking for an imposter who has fraudulently withdrawn Rs 34,000 from an account of a bank employee.

According to CNS, a bank employee from Tangmarag Syed Kaber Ahmed Shah approached State Bank of India ATM located opposite Khothi Bagh Police Station recently.

The employee, according to reports had faced some difficulty in withdrawing cash from the machine while an unknown fraudster who was standing behind him offered help and sought his ATM pin number  which he readily forwarded.

“He helped me in withdrawing the cash and I even thanked him for his help after he handed over my ATM card bearing number 622018046390095787  back to me.

After few days I was stunned when I approached ATM again and found that person had handed over a fake ATM card to me,” Syed Kaber said and added that he was aghast when he came to know from the bank authorities that his account has zero balance.

Police swung into action after Police station Khothibagh received a complaint from the victim and the CCTV footage revealed that the fraudster was quite young.

“We have registered a case against the impostor and his photographs have been sent to different police stations. We hope he will be nabbed soon,” a police officer said.
