Govt plans to establish weather stations for farmers: Mir


JAMMU:   The government is planning to establish weather stations in the state to provide round the clock weather information to the farming community with the help of The Weather Solution Company (BARON Service) and Achtech Company

 In this regard, a power point presentation was displayed here today by the representatives of the companies at a high level meeting here this afternoon. The companies deals with the advance Meteorological and Hydrological activities, being used in providing minute to minute weather data on area specific basis to the respective farmers.

Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir chaired the meeting.

Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production, Shaleen Kabra, Director CAD, Kashmir, Tariq Ahmad, Director CAD Jammu, Asgar Ali, Joint Director Agriculture Jammu, Managing Director M/S Achtech company and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

During the presentation, a documentary on the working of weather stations installed by the BARCON service in different parts of the world and its utilisation in agriculture to benefit the farmers was presented. The documentary displayed how these weather stations facilitate the farmers in advance to protect their crops. They said that our weather stations provide highly accurate shorter local forecast and the system is 90% accurate in the first 15 minutes and 70% accurate in the first 30 minutes.
