Heavy Snowfall in Poonch

POONCH- All schools and colleges have been closed following heavy snowfall in Poonch district where power lines were snapped and roads blocked due to the overnight snowfall.

The Power Development Department has been geared up to restore the 132 KV line from Thanamandi to Poonch via Draba which got damaged due to bending of towers/33 KV and 11 KV lines in the wake of heavy snowfall plunging most of the district in the darkness. 

Due to power shortage drinking water supply too has been affected. 

In case of any emergency, the people have been asked to contact Police Control Room at 01965-220258 or district Control Room at 01965-220347, 222723.

People have been advised to remain cautious and not venture into landslide or avalanches prone areas.
