SRINAGAR: The chairman of the Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Saturday dispatched a high-level delegation to the Salar, Sofipora area of Pahalgam after sectarian tensions flared up, the alliance said.
Led by Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, the team comprising of Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Abdul Rasheed Untoo, Muhammad Maqbool Sofi and Abdul Majeed Wani toured the affected areas an appealed for maintaining amity and unity, the Hurriyat (M) said.
The Mirwaiz described the flare-up as the latest bid by anti-unity forces to spark off Shia-Sunni strife, and said that conspiracies against Muslim unity in Kashmir would not be allowed to succeed.
