Directs immediate eviction of unauthorized occupants
JAMMU: The Committee on Estimates (EC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Monday directed the officers of Estate department to ensure eviction of unauthorized occupants in a time bound manner. In this pursuit, the Committee asked them to review such cases and gear up their field functionaries for identifying all the unauthorized occupants immediately.
The Committee, which met under the Chairmanship of MLA Ch. Mohammad Ramzan here today, discussed and reviewed the functioning of the Estates department.
Threadbare discussion was held on norms adopted for allotment of government accommodation, renovation and repairs of the government flats and other type of quarters meant for the Darbar Move employees and other dignitaries.
The Legislators, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Mohammad Sharief Naiz, G. M. Saroori, Harsh Dev Singh, Mr. A. R. Veeri, Mohammad Yasin Shah, Peer Afaq Ahmed and Naresh Kumar Gupta gave their valuable suggestions for the improvement of the working of the department. The panel suggested for proper issuance of furniture and furnishing items for the convenience of the allottees and stressed for review in this regard. The Committee also stressed for making the lower level engineering wing of the department more effective.
Detailed discussion was also held on the criteria fixed for providing of allotments to the Legislators and other VVIPs and VIPs. The Committee recommended for providing of all the facilities to the Legislators which are available to the Members of Parliament.
Earlier, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B.B. Viyas briefed the Committee about the steps taken by the Estate department about the eviction of unauthorized occupants, proposal for construction of new flats and other assets. He assured the Committee that the observations and recommendations under discussion will be fulfilled on priority.
Among others, Director Estate, R. K. Koul, Deputy Director Estate Jammu, Arun Manhas, Deputy Director Estate Kashmir, Farooq Ahmed and other officers and engineers of Estate department besides senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
