Cabinet Likely To Announce Police Revamp Soon
SRINAGAR: With a departmental promotion committee (DPC) having recently sanctioned promotions for SM Sahai and Dilbagh Singh, the Kashmir and Jammu provinces are likely to get new inspectors general of police (IGPs) well ahead of the budget session of the states legislature.
Senior IPS officers Javed Gilani, Abdul Ghani Mir and Munir Khan are said to be among those in the run for the provincial IGP posts.
According to sources, an upcoming cabinet meeting may announce a major revamp in the police and civil administration, partly due to promotions approved for 15 senior-most IPS officers serving in Jammu and Kashmir.
Apart from Sahai and Singh, two other officers to be elevated as additional directors general of police (ADGPs) are Sheikh Owais Ahmad and VK Singh.
The DPC meet held in Jammu under chief secretary Madhav Lal had also approved promoting deputy inspectors general (DIGs) Rajesh Kumar, Satish Khandari, SD Singh Jamwal, and T Namgyal as IGPs.
Senior superintendents of police (SSPs) promoted as DIGs include Anand Jain, SR Samuel, Asrar Khan, Nisar Ahmad, Ashkoor Wani, Jagdish Lal Sharma and Nitish Kumar.
