SRINAGAR – Senior resistance leader and National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Monday lauded Kashmiri Muslims for rising above sectarian considerations and standing united in face of overt and covert attempts by various elements to incite trouble and cause disruption.
Joining the 11th Muharram procession at Magam in central Kashmir district of Budgam, Khan condemned the restrictions imposed on the traditional processions on Ashura accusing the so-called state government of using double standards in the name of law and order.
Khan said all the Muslims were united on the basis of their faith in Kalimah-e-Tawheed and those resorting to blood-letting in the name of sects and schools of thought should draw a lesion from Kashmiri Muslims.
The Martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS) teaches us that we should not surrender before the evil and anti-Muslim forces and we should keep the torch of resistance burning against those who want to enslave Muslims through one or the other ways, Khan said, adding Muslims had been taught patience and tolerance as part of their faith.
Khan condemned the continuous detention of Ittehadul Muslimeen leader, Masroor Abbas Ansari, saying it had hurt the sentiments of thousands of people. (KNS)
