UDHAMPUR – Department of Horticulture Udhampur organized a district level fruit show at Horticulture Complex which was inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. P.K. Pole here this morning. The show was organised under the Horticulture Mission for the year 2012-13.
Joint Director Planning, Mr. Rakesh Jamwal, Chief Horticulture Officer, S. Avtar Singh, District Horticulture Officer, Mr.V.K. Muthu, District level SMS including Mr. C.L. Sharma, Mr. Anil Gorkha, Assistant Director Planning, Mr. Ashok Khajuria and Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion DDC appreciated the work done by the Horticulture Department in the District and said that more and more awareness camps regarding various Horticulture schemes should be organized in the rural areas so that people can avail the benefits of these schemes besides improving the quality and quantity of their horticulture products.
He further said that District Udhampur has favourable climatic conditions for the cultivation of various economically important fruit and medicinal plants. He urged upon the people of the area to come forward and take maximum benefits from various schemes initiated by the Horticulture Department.
Chief Horticulture Officer, said that the main objective of the show was to display different fruit exhibits produced in the district for information of common masses regarding Horticulture crops and also cultivation of Medicinal plants and their values and importance in daily life.
