Pune: Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving Pakistani terrorist of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was hanged at Pune’s Yerwada Jail Wednesday morning at 7.30 am.

Kasab’s end came just five days before the fourth anniversary of the brutal terror attacks.

Maharashtra’s Home Minister RR Patil has confirmed the execution. “Today morning at 7.30 am terrorist Ajmal Kasab was hanged. At this moment we remember the martyrs,” Patil said. He said that Kasab was hanged after following due legal procedure.

Doctors present in the jail have also checked and confirmed that Ajmal Kasab is dead.

Kasab had said before the execution that he had no last wish or will.

Kasab’s mercy plea was rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee on November 5.
