JAMMU - Terming the National Conference as a "failure" on all fronts, opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti today said her party has emerged as a strong alternative to the ruling party in Jammu and Kashmir.
"PDP has emerged as a strong and effective alternative to the NC in the entire state," Mehbooba said while addressing a public meeting in Udhampur district jammu region.
"The present government has proved a failure on all fronts and lacked the vision to fulfil commitments made to the people," she said.
"The panchayat elections held in the NC-Congress tenure, were an effort of the ruling coalition to win the four MLCs seats under Panchayat quota," she said.
She also slammed NC for the alleged failure to empower the panchayats.
People of the state were looking towards PDP to get them free of the mis-governance of NC led government, she said.
Due to its pro-people policies, PDP has emerged as a strong alternative to NC in the state within a short span of time, Mehbooba said.
"It was during the tenure of PDP led regime that all regions of the state were empowered and there was an equal distribution of power," she said, adding, "people of Jammu region have realised that only PDP has the vision to solve their problems."
"PDP has earned credibility of the people through its convictions and commitments. We want to change the present system with people's support and cooperation," she said.
