SRINAGAR – Demanding hike in fare, the Jammu and Kashmir transporters have decided to observe a day long ‘chakka jaam’ across the state on Monday.
Transporters under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association would observe ‘chakka jaam’ to press the government to fulfill their long pending demand of fare hike.
About 75,000 means of transportation including buses, mini buses, auto-rickshaws, trucks and other commercial vehicles would remain off road the strike.
“The transporters would assemble outside Press Club of Jammu and take out a protest rally towards the Civil Secretariat,” sources here said.
The government may press State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses into service to avoid inconvenience to the commuters especially the tourists.
