Says Omar led government strongly advocating raising of LPG cap

SRINAGAR – The National Conference today ridiculed the opposition leader and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti’s statement about relaxing the gas cap calling it ‘Malicious’ with an ‘iniquitous intent’ only to hoodwink people.

“It is surprising that suddenly the PDP president wakes up from deep slumber and on a personal visit to Delhi meets the Union Petroleum Minister and issues a statement here that she discussed LPG issue” National Conference Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said in a statement adding “What’s even stranger is that she went to meet him only after NC- Cong Coalition headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took it up with no less than the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself” said Tanvir

“She has been told in clear terms that on the instance of the State government headed by Omar Sahib the Central government is working seriously on this issue” he added “making her jittery to issue such a statement”

Stating that top coalition leaders have already requested the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Minister for Petroleum about this issue the NC spokesman said “On the direction of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a group of our senior ministers had already presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on this issue and had highlighted the peculiar geographical diversity, severe winter, remoteness of the State, insufficiency of electricity and economic stress of people due to long period of militancy and had strongly advocated enhancement in the number of subsidized LPG’s with the result the PM has already assured that the demand of the J&K will be considered positively”

“It does not surprise us what Mehbooba Mufti is doing because she is spreading canards in the same way like Mufti Sahib and Muzaffar Beigh to mislead people” said Tanvir “She is mis-representing things that she went for this purpose but in reality, when she came to know about the decision that is being mulled over the raising of cap after the state government positive meeting with Petroleum Minister, she became jittery and issued a statement full of malice” he added

“It’s amusing to know that the proponents of McDonalds are talking about LPG” said Tanvir “We are fully aware of the situation and the government led by Omar Abdullah is taking all steps to ensure a huge relief is provided to the people soon” he added
