Stresses for plantation of Chinar tree, Flags off Cycle Race
SRINAGAR – Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul who is also Chairman of Rural Development Society flagged off as many as 100 students of various educational institutions during a cycle race here this morning.
The race started from Nageen Club and culminated at SKICC, Srinagar which was jointly organized by Rural Development Society, Kashmir in collaboration with Bharat Scouts and Axis Bank. The cyclists were holding banners regarding various environmental issues relating to Dal Lake, use of polythene and smoking.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gul highlighted the importance of pollution free environment and added measures are being taken to keep the environment clean. He appealed for not using polythene as it is non-bio degradable and is responsible for soil and water pollution besides choking of drains. He also urged to make society free of narcotics and drug addiction. Mr. Gul stressed plantation of Chinar trees as they are indigenous to Valley only for making Srinagar city green and pollution free.
Mr. Gul also distributed mementoes and certificate among the first 3 position holders including Mohammad Aiaq Mir, Anees Ahmad and Aadil Rashid respectively on the occasion.
