SRINAGAR – Hurriyat Conference (M) has said that the recent court judgment regarding the Muslim League President Dr Qasim Faktoo was contrary to the basic principles of human justice.

The Court on Friday had awarded life imprisonment to Dr Qasim Faktoo saying imprisonment for life means imprisonment for the remaining period of the his (Dr Faktoos) natural life.

Faktoo had filed a petition before High Court seeking his release after completion of his life imprisonment of 14 years.

“The court reply to the petition was one sided and against the principles of human justice,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman said the court judgement was in tandem with government’s stand on this particular case.

“When the courts are confronted with Dr Faktoos like cases, it seems they (courts) remain satisfied with the government views and opinions. It also seems that when such cases come before the courts, instead of providing justice, the court gives more importance to the political influence and sticks to their view while pronouncing the judgments”.

Meanwhile APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed sorrow and offered condolences over the sad demise of Zaffar Ahmad Bukhari, son of noted religious figure late Mohamamd Qasim Shah Bukhari. He also offered special prayers for the deceased and beseeched Allah to grant his place in paradise.
