KULGAM – Snow clearance plan 2012-13 of district Kulgam, was finalized today, here at a meeting of executive engineers, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Mir.
The plan envisages timely clearance of snow on the total road length of 284 km across the district in the event of snowfall. While 250 km encompassing main roads of the district will be cleared off mechanically by the Mechanical engineering wing as many as 34 km link roads length will be cleared manually by the R & B department.
The plan also reflects the priorities to be adopted in the clearance of snow, providing for keeping open the district, tehsil and block headquarters and the main establishments on first priority during the onset of the snowfall. The district was accordingly divided into zones.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on keeping the snow clearance machines in a state of complete readiness, adding that henceforth any area could experience snowfall at any time. He also directed for operationalizing fully the near completion building of mechanical division within a week, maintaining that control room therein should function round the clock.
It was given out in the meeting that five snow clearance machines stand stocked in the district, while the district is slated for receiving two more machines shortly.
Earlier, Jahangir convened a separate meeting with CA & PD officials and took appraisal of stock and supply position of essential commodities in the district. He also directed for hassle- free supply of gas cylinders to the consumers.
