JAMMU – Congress Parliament member Lal Singh today demanded punishment for National Conference additional general secretary Mustafa Kamaal for his alleged remarks against India.
Kamaal had recently at a meeting in Kishtwar alleged that the Union government was the real ‘enemy of the state’ and also accused the troops of disturbing peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We are hurt by the remarks made by Kamaal,” the MP told reporters at a press conference here.
“If someone says that India is the ‘real enemy’ of the state, it means he himself is the enemy of the country and it is not acceptable to us,” he added.
“The talk was absolutely ‘anti-national’ and if I had been in power, I would have put him behind bars,” he said. Anybody, who sees country as ‘enemy’ must be punished for being anti-national, he added. “Our alliance with the National Conference is a compulsion but as an individual, I see him ( Kamaal) as anti-national and he should be punished for his remarks,” the Congress leader said.
On militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin’s firing at a liquor shop owner in Srinagar yesterday in which one person was killed and four injured, he said, “who is Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin, I do not recognise them.” The MP also said 14th Shaheedi Diwas would be observed at Kathua on November 16 wherein Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad would be the chief guest.
