India wants Pak to deliver on 26/11
NEW DELHI – India would like Pakistan to bring the culprits of the Mumbai terror attack to book before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s proposedvisit to that country takes place. “The window for visit of such nature at this time is very small. There are so many factors,”government sources said here today.
Though that should not be construed as India having any pre-conditions for the visit, delivery on an issue that was very important to its people was a natural expectation of the country from Pakistan, they said. “There is a strong sense of hurt which is still not forgotten. We expect from Pakistan that there should be some delivery,” the sources said.
India has noted the enthusiasm and interest expressed by Pakistan for the Prime Minister’s visit, and the visit was on radar, but at this time it was unlikely to happen.
They felt that it was a matter that required some analysis, as there were elections coming in both the countries, and besides that, there there were so many things that have to be factored into while taking any decision, they said, adding that finally it has to be decided by the Prime Minister.
India would like to move cautiously and gradually in its efforts to solve issues with Pakistan, and that was the correct approach, they said. The country would continue to push Pakistan for bringing the culprits of 26/11 to book, and there would be let up in that direction, even as efforts continue for normalisation of relations with the neighbour. “We will push harder without being rigid,” they said.
