Mirwaiz Brain-Storming On K-Issue Before Pak Visit

SRINAGAR (ONS) - Announcing sustained consultations with all sections of society before the Hurriyat (M)’s Pak visit, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Friday said that economists, academicians, legal experts and other intellectuals would be taken into confidence before the trip.

At Friday prayers here, the Mirwaiz said that the process would be comprehensive and include all aspects of the Kashmir issue, including its human, economic and political dimensions.

The Hurriyat (M) chairman said that the process would formally start from November 20, and that he would be holding regular sessions at the alliance headquarters thence.

Felicitating the Muslim world on the advent of the new Islamic year, the Mirwaiz urged heads of Muslim states to expedite efforts to halt mass killings in Palestine, Syria and Burma, and resolve the Kashmir issue.

“I will not be able to attend the OIC summit in Djibouti this time due to previous engagement, but in a message I have conveyed to the Conference to frame a comprehensive strategy to resolve the Kashmir issue and other problems confronting the Muslim world,” he said.

“The Hurriyat’s stand on the Kashmir issue is clear: that uncertainty will persist in the region until the 65-year-old question is resolved fairly in accordance with the aspirations of the people living in both parts of Kashmir,” he said.

“The issue can be resolved by meaningful talks between all the three parties to the issue, viz India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir,” he said
