SRINAGAR – The divisional administration has issued traffic restrictions in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region on November 17 and 18 following forecast of snowfall and rains.
A Met department spokesman said the Western Disturbances (WD), originating in Arabia sea and entering the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, would result in snowfall or rains on November 17 and 18.
On the basis of forecast and keeping in view the unpredictability of the weather, in higher reaches, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon has ordered traffic restrictions on movement of vehicles on Kargil-Zanskar, Srinagar-Zojila-Kargil, Kupwara- Machil, Tangdhar and Bandipora-Gurez roads on November 17 and 18 as a precautionary measure.
Dr Samoon directed Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police and Sub District Magistrates (SDMs) alongwith Traffic Police to take appropriate measures to ensure strict implementation of the instructions, to safeguard life and property of the general public. The general public has been appealed to defer their travel plans to these areas, in their own interest.
