SRINAGAR - Independent legislator form north Kashmirs Langate constituency today announced names of two candidates backed by him for Legislative Council Elections in Kashmir Valley.
The decision was taken at a meeting convened at Handwara which was attended by more than three hundred Panchs and Sarpanchs hailing from Langate and adjoining areas. The decision was taken after three hour long detailed deliberations, said a statement issued by Engineer Rashid.
It was unanimously decided that Shabir Ahmad Rather and Nazir Ahmad War who are themselves Sarpanchs, will be the candidates for contesting the said election, the statement added.
Speaking on the occasion majority of the speakers said that both ruling coalition and main opposition party have miserably failed to help in resolving political and day to day problems of the Kashmiri People and as such there is no reason for any sincere Kashmiri to support their candidate at this juncture, the statement read.
MLA Langate has appealed Panchs and Sarpanchs of the valley to rise to the occasion and vote for his candidates who will not only do what so ever is required for empowering Panchayati Raj Institution but will also fight for the resolution of Kashmir issue in the State Assembly.
