SRINAGAR – Cooperative Week is being celebrated at National and State Level and in this connection an impressive function was held at SKUAST-K, where Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir was the chief guest besides Minister of State for Cooperative, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma was guest of honour.
The function was also attended by Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Dr. Tej Pratap, Director Extension Education, Afifa Kamli, Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, several officers and farmers.
Addressing the function, the Minister for Agriculture said that there is a dire need to strengthen cooperative system in length and breadth of the State to extend its benefits to common masses.
Mr. Mir appealed people to exhibit their enthusiasm in making cooperatives a success and help Government in solving the problems of people through cooperatives. He urged upon SKUAST authorities to make farmers self-reliant by improving the production and cultivation of various crops through Cooperatives, particularly by introducing latest technology and awareness camps.
Mr. Mir directed Director Agriculture to organize a convention for the purpose so that the improvement of quality of various crops is assured and progress and prosperity visits farmer community.
