Carom championship concludes in Srinagar

SRINAGAR – In an endeavor to boost the sports activities in Srinagar, a District level Carom championship was held at District Police Lines, Srinagar in association with J&K State Carom association.

Large number of youth including the students of schools across district Srinagar participated in the competition. The competition was organised in three categories in both segments of men and women viz, senior, under-18 and under-14.

In senior Men category, Ajaz Koul was the winner while Waseem Bashur clinched the under eighteen title and Ilham bagged the under fourteen.

In women’s category, Adfar Jaan bagged the senior while Iram took the under eighteen and Harmeet Kour bagged the under fourteen competition.

The competition was inaugurated by the DIG, CKR Afhead-ul-Mujtaba. Mujtaba while giving opening address insisted that these kind of competitions develop the sportsmanship that will contribute the state at national and international levels.

The prizes were distributed to the winners by SSP Srinagar, Aashiq Hussain Bukhari.  Bukhari impressed upon the youth to focus equally on studies along with sports for the better future.
