SRINAGAR (ONS) – The police on Saturday foiled a Hurriyat (G) seminar at Hyderpora, sealing off the venue and barring entry to all participants and visitors, the alliance said.
According to the separatist faction, the police kept Syed Ali Shah Geelani residence under siege for the entire day apart from keeping him under house arrest.
The Hurriyat (G) had announced to hold a seminar on the Shrine Boards Designs and their Impact on Sunday, inviting participants from all sections of society, it said, adding that the police had similarly barred another seminar at the venue on November 6.
The Hurriyat (G) as well as Geelanis party, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, have flayed the government action.
The Hurriyat (G) termed the step as state terrorism, saying that India was reinforcing its claims as being a champion of democracy by relentlessly silencing the voice of Kashmiris with the use of force.
Our organisation and forum are being targeted specifically, and have been subjected to an undeclared ban, Geelani said.
I am under unbroken house arrest for the past two years, and my associates are facing an unending spree of detention, he said.
Our party was already barred rallies in the open, and now it is being denied seminars and other programmes indoors as well, he said.
