SRINAGAR (ONS) – A high level delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq left here for New Delhi Saturday to meet with Pakistan high commissioner ahead of the conglomerates upcoming visit to Paksitan.
Other members in the delegation are: Maulvi Muhammad Abbas Ansari, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone and Agha Syed Hasan Al Moosvi Al Safvi, Hurriyat spokesman said in a statement.
The delegation will meet with the Pakistan high commissioner, Salman Bashir, and other diplomats and discuss the itinerary of the forums upcoming visit to Pakistan. Kashmir issue, bilateral relations between India and Pakistan and improvement in the ties between the two countries would figure prominently during the meeting, he said.
He said the APHC would present the Kashmiri viewpoint, aspirations and emotions to the high commissioner and other Pakistani officials.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat spokesman rejected the reports carried by a section of the press regarding providing of some basic amenities to some of the Hurriyat (M) leaders. Terming the statement as mischievous and misleading, he said the Hurriyat leadership was an inalienable part of the Kashmiri people and did not demand any economic or other benefits from the government.
The APHC is of the firm view that its duty is to highlight the day-to-day problems of the people. It highlights these problems without seeking any benefits. It only points to the sufferings of people caused primarily due to the governments wrong policies and to seek quick redress of their grievances, the spokesman said.
It may be recalled that in an unexpected gesture, a multi-disciplined team led by the additional district magistrate and comprising officials from security, water and power supply and fire and emergency services had, on Thursday, visited the residences of various Hurriyat (M) leaders, including Mirwaiz, Ansari, Bilal Gani Lone, Fazl Haq Qureshi and Shahidul Islam, to inspect the availability of basic facilities.
