SRINAGAR – In order to ensure smooth movement of ambulances carrying serious and critical patients within Srinagar city and from rural areas, a meeting of officers of various departments was held under the Chairmanship ofDIG Traffic, Mr. Showkat Ahmad Watli here today.
The meeting was attended by Director Health Services, Kashmir, Medical Superintendents of various Associated Hospitals, SP Traffic City and Members of Civil Society.
The meeting decided that all information with regard to movement of ambulances carrying serious and critical patients from and to the hospitals shall be logged by Traffic Police Control Room as soon as it receives the said information.
After receiving information from authorized Medical Officer from the referring hospital regarding movement of ambulance carrying critical patients, Traffic Police Control Room shall immediately convey the departure time and route taken by the said ambulance to concerned officers of Traffic Police. In addition to this, PCRs of all enroute districts and police stations and police posts falling enroute will be also informed well in time for smooth movement of such ambulances.
Mobile numbers of the driver of the ambulance and the attendant of the patient shall be noted by duty officer Traffic Police Control Room and conveyed to all concerned traffic men for better communication during movement of the ambulances.
All concerned traffic officers shall ensure to escort these ambulances in their area of responsibility especially congested areas.
In case of protest, road block or any other reason when the movement of vehicles is not possible at any place enroute, the concerned traffic officers shall divert the said ambulance to alternative route for smooth passage under intimation to Traffic Police Control Room Srinagar.
Telephone Nos of Traffic Police Control Room Kashmir and senior officers of Traffic Police will be conveyed to all district hospitals and the nodal officers of Health department including SKIMS Soura, Government Medical College and other Health institutions.
DIG Traffic Kashmir, SP Traffic Rural and SP Traffic City Srinagar and other gazette officers will personally monitor the movement of these ambulances as is being done in case of movement of VVIPs.
These instructions, guidelines and SOP will come into force with immediate effect.
