Speakers urged for upliftment of Kashmiri Theatre
Srinagar, Nov 08: A 2-day National seminar on Kashmiri Drama organized by Sahitiya Academy New Delhi in collaboration with Kashmir Theater Federation started at Sri Pratap College here today.
A galaxy of eminent Theater, Radio and Television artists of the State attended the seminar and deliberate upon the revival and reformation of the theater and Kashmiri Drama in State. Speakers stressed for restoration of past glory and fame of Kashmiri drama which used to highlight the basic issues of the common people of the valley.
On the inaugural day, eminent artist Mr. M K Raina was the chief guest while as Mr. Makhan Lal Saraf, Mr. M L Kamu, Mtr. Rukhsana Jabeen and Dr. Aziz Hajini attended the function as guests of honour.
On the occasion, speakers deliberated upon the golden era of Kashmiri Theater. They highlighted the role of Radio and Television for the promotion of Kashmiri dramas. They said that theater plays a key role for the promotion of the languages and hoped such seminars shall prove fruitful for flourishing of Kashmiri Theater.
Speakers also urged for undertaking necessary steps for the upliftment of theater and Drama divisions of the Valley, adding that drama is an integral part of literary art.
It was said that Baand-e-Pather is basic theater of Kashmir and represents history, culture and heritage of Kashmir and it needs to be revived on modern ideas and new directions.
