70553 metric ton fruit production recorded in Bandipur


Bandipur, Nov 08: A record 70553 metric tons of fruit production has been registered in district Bandipur this year, with the result the fruit growers have earned about Rs. 40 crore.
This was stated during a seminar cum Horticulture Expo organized by Horticulture Department at Bandipur today. This district level seminar was attended by MLA Bandipora, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Additional District Development Commissioner, S.P. Bandipur, Chief Horticulture Officer, experts from Horticulture and allied departments besides progressive farmers and orchardists from Gurez, Bandipora and Sonawari tehsils.
The experts on this occasion made the participants aware about the causes and treatment of various diseases of fruit and other crops. They also stressed for adopting latest technology.
Speaking on this occasion, MLA appealed the people to avail benefits of government schemes, he asked the officers that these schemes should be implemented on ground level. The MLA demanded for establishment of a fruit Mandi, Canning Centre, or laboratory and a horticulture nursery in the district.
